Temptation Tomato

'Temptation' (Iskusheniye / Искушение in Russian, also found on sale internationally named as Temptation of Sophia or Temptation of Sofia) is another standout speciality variety created by breeder Sofia Saakova in Stavropol, Russia. Temptation is a vibrant, bi-colour, heart shaped tomato with a sweet and sugary flavour. Unlike her renowned 'Sofia's Sweet Caramel' variety, there is no antho presentation.

Overview

  • Breeder: Sofia Saakova (Stavropol, Russia).

  • Fruit Type: Medium sized to large bi-colour hearts with a distinctly tapered or pointed "beak" at the tip.

  • Fruit Weight: Typically 100–300 grams, with ideal growing conditions producing fruit up to 400 grams.

  • Fruit Appearance: Warm yellow to golden-orange skin heavily marbled with deep pink, crimson, and raspberry red striping/blushing.

Flavour Profile & Internal Characteristics

  • Flavour: Very sweet, tropical, and distinctly fruity with virtually no acidic bite.

  • Flesh Texture: Dense, buttery, and meaty with minimal seed cavities.

  • Cross-Section: When sliced, the interior shows a multi coloured marbled core (bi-colour palette of yellow, gold, and vibrant pink).

Growth

  • Growth Habit: Indeterminate. Features typical "wispy" heart tomato foliage (delicate looking leaves), but produces sturdy fruit bearing stems and trusses.

  • Height: Reaches around 1.6–1.8 m.

  • Maturity: Early to mid season, seed sow to ripe fruit around 115 days.

  • Pruning & Yield: Yields 3 to 6 fruits per cluster. Training the plant to 2 main stems yields the best balance of fruit size and production.
