Solar Vortex Tomato
'Solar Vortex' is a recent release from famous California breeder Brad Gates at Wild Boar Farms. Unlike older, non-anthocyanin varieties of his like 'Solar Flare', 'Solar Vortex' is a high anthocyanin, multi coloured tomato with striking vertical striping and an unusual semi heart shape.

Fruit Shape: Semi heart to blunt heart shape.
Fruit Weight: 110–230 grams
Fruit Appearance: Very dramatic colours. The shoulders are a deep violet/black (high anthocyanin), cascading down into emerald green, fire red, and golden yellow flames and streaks. Skin is glossy and crack-resistant.
Flavour Profile: Rich, full bodied, and very meaty with a high sweetness balanced by medium acidity.
Post-Harvest Shelf Life: Excellent shelf life; harvested ripe fruits can remain firm and edible at room temperature for weeks.
Growth & Plant Attributes
Plant Type: Indeterminate (grows 1.8 m+ and requires good staking, stringing or caging).
Foliage: Regular leaf.
Maturity: Mid season, around 120 days from seed sowing to ripe fruit.
Sunlight Needs: Requires full, direct sunlight exposure on the clusters to activate the heavy indigo/purple anthocyanin pigmentation on the shoulders.
