Shadow Of Death Dwarf Tomato
Bred by iconic breeder Tom Wagner (Washington, USA), Shadow of Death (Dwarf shadow of Death) is a striking, highly ornamental dwarf variety with dramatic colours and a compact growth habit. True to Wagner’s unconventional breeding style, it produces abundant, darkly pigmented saladette to plum fruits on stout, sturdy plants suitable for small gardens or container growing. Highly productive and grows exceptionally well both outdoors and undercover.
Fruit Shape: Round to slightly elongated plum/saladette shape, often featuring a small pointed nipple on the blossom end
Fruit Weight: 30g to 80g
Skin Colour: Highly dynamic anthocyanin expression; young fruits start near black on exposed shoulders, ripening into a deep bronze red to metallic green red base with dark purple/black striping
Flesh & Taste: Rich crimson purple flesh surrounded by green gel seed cavities. Delivers a full, juicy flavour profile with a distinct tangy acidity balanced by a delightful, lasting, sweet finish.
Plant Habit: Dwarf / Determinate (stout, thick-stemmed bush habit)
Foliage Type: Dark green, rugose (crinkled) foliage available in regular leaf (and occasionally potato leaf variations)
Plant Height: 60cm to 100cm
Maturity: Mid season, around 120 days from seed sowing to ripe fruit
Yield & Culture: Excellent production for a compact frame. Requires minimal pruning; simple lateral support or container staking is recommended to support heavy fruit clusters.
