The name "Sergeant" comes from a line of tomatoes that originated with the 'Sgt. Pepper's' tomato, which was bred by Jason Haynes and named after a Beatles album. Other breeders have continued this line, creating varieties with similar characteristics, and Sergeant Pineapple is one such creation from this series.
