Pink Whale Tomato
'Pink Whale' is a mid-season variety of Russian origin (Rozovyy Kit / Розовый Кит) with a delicious sweet flavour. Producing large oxheart tomatoes, massive in size with meaty flesh.
Fruit Characteristics & Appearance
Shape & Sizing: Very large heart shaped (oxheart) or slightly blunt heart fruits, often displaying mild ribbing near the shoulders. They regularly weigh between 350–700 grams. My largest this year was 829!
Colouration: A uniform, glossy pink-to crimson skin with soft translucent tones.
Internal Flesh: Dense, smooth, "beefy" interior with very small seed cavities and minimal gel.
Flavour Profile
Taste: Classic old fashioned oxheart profile - mildly acidic, very sweet, harmonious, and fruity.
Growth
Growth Habit: Indeterminate 1.5–1.8 m vines.
Foliage: Regular, somewhat wispy foliage typical of heart shaped varieties.
Maturity: Mid-season, 115 days from seed sowing to ripe fruit.
Yield & Setting: Sets in clusters of 3 to 5 large fruits. Requires heavy staking or sturdy caging to support the weight of the heavy heart shaped tomatoes.
