Patrick's Purple Tomato (10-15 seeds)

History:

Patrick's Purple originates from J&L Gardens in the US. They describe the history as:

"My friend, Patrick, gave me seed he had saved from a tomato plant I'd given him. It was supposed to be a smaller, purple grape tomato, but in fact was a perfect, round, purple slicing or salad tomato. Tomatoes don't get much more handsome than this one and the flavour is all you would expect - spicy and slightly salty.
I picked a lot of these for market this summer and it produced until frost. Vigorous plants reach 6 foot or more.
"

Characteristics:

  • Colour: As the name suggests, the tomatoes ripen to a purple hue. This unique hue makes them a standout in any garden or on the dinner table.

  • Size: Patrick's Purple tomatoes tend to be round, salad size.

  • Flavour: These tomatoes have a fabulous flavour profile that I found to be sweet and complex.

  • Yield: The yield from Patrick's Purple is good with well populated trusses of delicious fruit on plants that grow to around 2m

  • Growing: They are indeterminate plants, meaning they continue to grow and produce fruit throughout the growing season.

Culinary Uses:

  • Fresh: Patrick's Purple tomatoes are perfect for slicing and enjoying in salads, sandwiches, or as a snack.

  • Cooking: They can also be used in a variety of cooked dishes, such as sauces, soups, and stews. Their sweet and juicy flavour adds a delicious element to any recipe.

  • Preserving: Consider canning, drying, or freezing Patrick's Purple tomatoes for long-term enjoyment.

The Patrick's Purple tomato is a beautiful and flavourful variety that's sure to impress. Its unique colour, rich taste, and salad size are sure to make it a popular choice. I'll certainly be growing it again!
