Micro Mars Micro Dwarf Tomato (10-15 seeds)
The 'Micro Mars' is a popular and intriguing micro dwarf tomato variety, perfect for container gardening and small spaces like windowsills and balconies.
Origin: This variety was created by breeder Reinhard Kraft from Germany, known for his work in developing distinctive and beautiful tomato varieties.
Size: As a micro dwarf, it's very compact, typically growing up to 20-30 cm in height.
Foliage: The plants are sturdy with thick, slightly rugose (wrinkled) leaves.
Growth Habit: It is a determinate variety, meaning it grows to a certain size, produces its fruit in a concentrated period, and then stops growing. This makes it ideal for containers as it requires little to no pruning or staking. If providing support, a couple of very small canes will suffice.
Type: Produces cherry tomatoes.
Weight: The fruits are quite small, around 10-15 grams each.
Colouration (Antho): This is one of its most striking features. The tomatoes have Anthocyanin (Antho) pigmentation, which causes them to ripen in a beautiful spectrum of colours:
Starts as dark purple green.
Transitions to dark purple yellow orange.
Finishes as dark purple red when fully ripe. (The Antho shoulders will be deepest purple with sufficient sun exposure).
Flesh Colour: The interior flesh is red.
Flavour: Described as having a tasty, sweet tomato flavour.
Days to Ripe: It is considered an early variety, typically ready for harvest in about 85-95 days from seed sowing.
Ideal Use: Excellent for growing indoors on a windowsill, on a balcony, or as a front-row plant in a small outdoor garden.
Pot size: 2 litres is ideal, use 3 or 5 if you require larger plants
