Quite a rarity, Jasenica Apple (Jasenički Jabučar / Јасенички Јабучар) is a traditional Serbian heirloom tomato variety originally developed at the Superior Institute, located near the Jasenica River in central Serbia. Named for its uniform, globe shaped fruits that resemble smooth red apples, this heirloom is celebrated across the Balkans for its exceptional disease resilience, heavy cropping, and rich, old fashioned flavour.
Fruit Shape: Smooth, round to slightly oblate (apple shaped) with clean skin that resists cracking
Fruit Weight: 150g to 250g
Skin Colour: Deep, vibrant scarlet red.
Flesh & Taste: Meaty, firm, and juicy interior with thick walls and moderate seed cavities. Delivers a classic, robust heirloom taste perfectly balanced between rich sweetness and traditional tomato acidity. Excellent for fresh slicing, salads, and traditional cooked sauces.
