Fiery Mountains is a high yielding, bicoloured oxheart cultivar originating from Russia. The name translates directly from the Russian Огненные Горы. Celebrated for its sunset coloured skin and productive habit, it produces large, heart shaped fruits with sweet, fruity first flavour balanced by a refreshing touch of acidity
Origin: Russia - originally catalogued and distributed under the Russian name Огненные Горы
Breeder & Lineage: It was selected and stabilised within Russian speciality seed circles before being introduced into Western heirloom preservation collections
Fruit Shape: Smooth, clean heart shaped fruits with exceptional crack resistance and blemish free skin.
Fruit Weight: Large fruits 180g to 300g
Skin Colouration: Bicolour "sunset" pattern combining golden yellow, warm orange, and radiant crimson pink streaks
Flesh & Taste: Fleshy golden interior with prominent deep pink veining down the centre. Features generous locules with ample seed gel (unlike many drier oxhearts). When harvested at peak ripeness (rather than overripe), the flavour is sweet, fruity, and intense, with enough underlying acidity and salinity to deliver a lingering finish
