Curly Kaley Micro Dwarf Tomato (10-15 seeds)
The 'Curly Kaley' micro dwarf tomato is one of the more unique and visually interesting varieties in the small-space gardening world. Its main distinguishing feature is its foliage, which gives it its name.
Size (Plant): It is a true micro dwarf, typically reaching a height of only 20–40 cm, though slightly taller if grown in larger containers.
Foliage: This is the most remarkable feature. The leaves are deeply wrinkled (rugose) and curled, resembling kale or spinach, giving the plant a very unique, decorative, bonsai-like appearance or a "stick gene" look.
Fruit: It produces an abundance of bright red, oval to slightly elongated cherry-sized fruits. The fruits average around 10 to 20 grams each.
Flavour: The flavour is well balanced, sweet and tangy. The fruits are firm and have a low seed count for a cherry tomato.
Growth Habit: Curly Kaley is a determinate or semi-determinate (bush type), meaning it has a set mature size and does not require constant pruning or staking, making it very low-maintenance. If support is required, a couple of very small canes will suffice.
Maturity: It is an early variety, typically ready to harvest in 90 to 100 days from seed sowing.
Growing
Ornamental Value: Due to its unusually curled leaves and thick stem appearance, it is often grown for its high ornamental value, in addition to its fruit production.
Containers: It is perfectly suited for small containers, like 2 to 3 litre pots, or even smaller pots for an ultra-mini look.
Indoor Growing: It performs extremely well indoors under grow lights or on a sunny windowsill, and has been successfully grown using hydroponic and aeroponic methods.
In short, 'Curly Kaley' is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a tomato that not only provides fresh fruit but also acts as an intriguing, compact, and decorative houseplant.
