Blues on a Platter Tomato

Bred and selected by celebrated Russian breeder Sofia Saakova (Stavropol, Russia), Blues on a Platter (Блюз на блюде / Blyuz na Blyude) is a open pollinated (future heirloom),  highly productive anthocyanin variety. Known for producing glowing, light cream/yellow to pale golden, plum shaped tomatoes with dark violet blue shoulders, it is one of the visually striking standout releases from Saakova's breeding program.

  • Breeder & Origin: Sofia Saakova, Stavropol, Russia

  • Parentage: A deliberate cross between Big White Blues × Pink Dish

  • Fruit Shape: Elongated plum to round heart shape with a slightly pointed blossom tip

  • Fruit Weight: 100g to 250g

  • Skin Colour: Pale cream/white to bright sunny yellow base capped with dense, dark indigo purple anthocyanin shoulders. As the fruit fully ripens, a subtle red "tie" or blush often emerges through the centre

  • Flesh & Taste: Thick, firm, and juicy flesh with few seeds and high crack resistance. Delivers an intensely sweet, fruity, and slightly tropical flavour profile with virtually no harsh acidity.

  • Plant Habit: Indeterminate (vining)

  • Foliage Type: Regular leaf, somewhat slender and wide spreading vines with drooping foliage

  • Plant Height: 1.6m to 2.0m

  • Maturity: Mid season, around 120 days from seed sowing to ripe fruit

  • Yield & Culture: Above average productivity; forms heavy "garland" trusses bearing 7 to 10 fruits per cluster continuously until autumn frost. Best trained to 2 or 3 stems with sturdy support from caging staking or stringing. Grows well both undercover and outdoors
