Apollo's Chariot Tomato
Apollo's Chariot is an open pollinated (stable future heirloom), high yielding paste/plum tomato variety bred and recently released by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms (California, USA)
Breeder: Brad Gates (Wild Boar Farms, Napa Valley/Northern California)
Release Category: Part of Wild Boar Farms' modern line of colourful, open pollinated varieties
Growth Habit: Indeterminate vining habit, growing to an average height of 1.5 to 1.8 metres. Vines are productive across a range of indoor and outdoo growing conditions. String, stake or cage support will be required
Maturity: Mid season, taking roughly 115 to 125 days from seed sowing to ripe fruit
Fruit Shape & Size: Elongated, semi pointed oval to plum shape, measuring approximately 5 to 8cm long
Colouration: Multicoloured exterior with vibrant dark red and orange streaks or stripes. Inside, it features a pink, semi meaty, high density pulp
Flavour Profile: Well balanced flavour with rich sweetness and pleasant acidity
Durability & Post-Harvest: Built for exceptional shelf life. The fruits are firm, crack resistant, can hang ripe on the vine for long periods without losing texture, and store well for weeks at room temperature post harvest
Fresh Slicing & Salads: Sweet and juicy enough for raw eating
Processing: The semi-meaty interior and thick pulp make it ideal for rich sauces, soups, and salsa.
