Anna's Irish Caramel Tomato (10-15 seeds)
The 'Anna's Irish Caramel' tomato is an experimental variety that has not been stabilised yet, being a first cross of Irish Stripes and Sophia's Sweet Caramel it's well worth a grow to see what new variety you can produce!
This variety was accidentally bred by Anna Griffiths. When I tried to grow Irish Stripes from seeds supplied by Anna, I initially got large yellow beefsteaks with some antho to the shoulders, followed as the plants matured by substantial heart shaped fruits also with antho to the shoulders. When discussing my new 'Irish Stripes' with Anna, Anna confirmed that Irish Stripes and Sophia's Sweet Caramel had been grown next to each other the previous year.
The output from these seeds should vary from the fruit shown but I would expect them to gain more anthocyanin presentation.
The flavour on this first cross was outstanding, delicious, fruity and sweet. Hopefully, that will be maintained in the output from these seeds.
Growth Habit: It is an indeterminate vining tomato. This means the plant will continue to grow upwards and produce fruit throughout the entire growing season until it is stopped by frost. It can reach a considerable height in the 1.8 to 2.5 meters range.
Maturity: It's a mid season variety, meaning it starts producing ripe fruit around 120 -130 days from seed sowing, ripening earlier under ideal conditions.
Stability: The variety IS unstable, meaning there WILL be variations in fruit shape or colour from seeds.
Productivity: It has an excellent yield, producing a good quantity of its beautiful and flavourful fruits.
